Since the start of the 2010s, Australia has been exporting new musical gems non-stop to the rest of the world. The latest takes the form of Olivia Jayne Bartley, aka Olympia, with her brilliantly classy sophomore indie-pop album Flamingo. Three years after Self Talk, the Wollongong-born Melburnian reminds us that she knows Blondie’s records like the back of her well-manicured hand. Indeed, the abundance of powerful choruses (Star City and Shoot to Forget being particularly noteworthy) recall Debbie Harry’s band throughout.
