Unlike Welcome to My Love, which was released in the same year, Nancy Wilson's Easy suffers from lackluster material. The usual bossa nova and Bacharach found on mid- to late '60s albums are included with mixed results -- Wilson's sultry and assured delivery make the anemic charts behind Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Wave" easy to forget, but on "The Look of Love," she isn't able to surmount the perfunctory setting. Therein lies the album's problem: a few standout tracks, like the assured and dramatic version of "Gentle on Mind" and the single "Face It Girl, It's Over," are overshadowed by the prevalence of subpar songs and ultra-light arrangements which don't give the usually inspired Wilson much to get excited about. Skip this one and look for Easy's good tracks on Wilson's greatest-hits packages.
