This compilation is almost like Benny Carter's latter-period "greatest hits." It has many of his more famous tunes, it's loaded with the very best players in swing-to-bop jazz, and it's thoughtfully programmed by compiler Eric Miller. Carter plays alto sax on all the cuts, save his epic opus "When Lights Are Low." This CD would be a good starter set for any collector not yet hip to this true giant of jazz.
