Week-End Millionnaire

Formed in Toulouse in 1977, Week-End Millionnaire is made up of multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Gorodetzky (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jean-Michel Navarre (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Alain Thomas (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards). Derived from a previous group called Pêche Melba, Week-End Millionnaire is strongly influenced by the soft-rock bands of the Californian West Coast. They signed a contract with French subsidiary Warner Bros. to record a debut album of the same name, boosted by the radio success of the track "Où que tu ailles". Released in 1978, it was produced by Jean Mareska with a team of studio musicians and members of the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse. Presented on several TV shows, Week-End Millionnaire opened for Alain Chamfort on tour, and in 1979 released the track "Appelle-moi", featuring guitarist Michael Jones (future accompanist to Jean-Jacques Goldman), before a concert at the Olympia opening for Nicolas Peyrac and the recording in Paris of the second album French Music par Excellence (1979). After an appearance at MIDEM in Cannes and the 45-turn single "Tout s'en va..." (1980), the band left their original label for Force Records for two singles in 1981, then Telemedia No. 1 in 1983 for the premonitory title "Exit". The musicians embarked on personal careers, until they reunited in 1992 for the album Retour de Croisière. 2011 sees the release of the triple CD L'Intégrale & More, followed by concerts at Le Petit Journal Montparnasse (Paris) in 2012.
