Storyhill
The tale of Storyhill really begins in 1989, when Chris Cunningham and John Hermanson graduated from high school in Bozeman, MT, and recorded their first tape together. Friends since seventh grade, they'd begun playing together, but it proved to be a brief union. Cunningham moved to Spain, while Hermanson went to college in Minnesota, where he continued playing music, not only making a name for himself around town, but also selling the tape the duo had made. That was enough to bring Cunningham back, and the pair performed, first around Minnesota, then nationally until 1996, recording along the way as Chris & Johnny and also under the name Storyhill. By then they decided they needed different paths. Cunningham moved briefly to Seattle before returning to Bozeman, while Hermanson traveled to Norway, where he composed his first solo disc, before coming back to the U.S., where he began touring with a band, Alva Star, as well as working alone. After a few reunion shows, Cunningham and Hermanson decided it was time to get back together as a touring and recording duo under the Storyhill moniker, and the result was the self-titled Storyhill in 2007.
