Steve Jolley

b. England. This noted record producer enjoyed his most productive period during the mid-80s in partnership with songwriter Tony Swain. The duo first worked together in 1975 on television’s The Muppet Show. However, it was after their ‘Body Talk’ smash for Imagination that they emerged as a leading production team from 1982-84. Among their more fêted clients were Truth, Bananarama - notably Deep Sea Skiving - Wang Chung, Louise Goffin, Diana Ross, Tom Robinson and Errol Brown. Jolley’s career peaked commercially with 1983’s True, a number 1 album (and title track single) in the UK for Spandau Ballet. Advantaged by a huge budget from CBS Records, Jolley and Swain also took on the award-winning Alf, Alison Moyet’s chart-topping solo album debut, for which Jolley co-wrote all but one track. After breaking his partnership with Swain, Jolley continued in the record industry by forming his own record label.
