Seth Avett
In addition to fronting the Americana group the Avett Brothers with his sibling Scott, Seth Avett has a solo career under the moniker Timothy Seth Avett as Darling. After playing in their own bands, the pair formed the Avett Brothers in the late '90s, releasing an eponymous EP in 2000. They didn't release a full-length until 2002's Country Was, but in the meantime, Seth pursued his solo career, self-releasing the full-length To Make the World Quiet in 2001. He quickly followed it with Killing the Headlamps and, in 2006, Ramseur Records put out The Mourning, The Silver, The Bell. After this release, the Avett Brothers' career took off. Emotionalism, also released on Ramseur, put them on the Billboard charts, and they made the leap to the majors, signing with American for 2009's I and Love and You. The Avett Brothers kept him away from Darling, but after his three solo albums were reissued in 2009, Seth returned to Darling in 2015 by cutting a set of Eliott Smith covers with Jessica Lea Mayfield. That turned out to be a precursor to the 2017 release of IV, the fourth Darling album.
