Mimicat

Born Marisa Isabel Lopes Mena on 25 October 1984 in Coimbra, Mimicat is a Portuguese singer and songwriter operating on a soul-pop spectrum. After setting her sights on music at a young age, she had her first taste of the spotlight performing at Portugal's Festival da Cançao under the stage name Izamena with the song "Mundo Colorido," but did not progress further than the semi-final stage. Her first album For You arrived in 2014, marked out by the singles “Tell Me Why” and “Saviour," while she went to number 43 in Portugal with her second album Back in Town (2017). A few single releases followed in its wake, including 2021's "Tudo Ao Ar" and 2022's "Mundo Ao Contrário," recorded with Filipe Gonçalves. In 2023, she was chosen to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool with the song "Ai coração," written ten years earlier. Following the announcement, the song rose to 76th place in the Portuguese charts.
