Lost Bayou Ramblers
Lost Bayou Ramblers is an American Cajun music group that originated in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 1999. Founded by brothers Louis Michot (fiddle and vocals) and André Michot (accordion and lap steel guitar), the group has been turning heads with their authentic and energetic Cajun music for over two decades. Other members of the band include Bryan Webre (bass), Johnny Campos (guitar), and Eric Heigle (drums). Ever since finding their footing in the scene with the albums Pilette Breakdown (2001) and Bayou Perdu (2005), Lost Bayou Ramblers have garnered numerous accolades and have collaborated with a wide array of artists. Their 2008 album, Live: A La Blue Moon, was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album category. The group's success continued with their 2012 release, Mammoth Waltz, which featured guest spots by Gordon Gano of Violent Femmes, actress Scarlett Johansson, and Dr. John. That year, their song “Bathtub” appeared in the fantasy-drama film Beasts of the Southern Wild, winner of the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. They reached the pinnacle of their career in 2017 when their album Kalenda earned them a Grammy Award for Best Regional Roots Music Album. This remarkable achievement solidified Lost Bayou Ramblers' status as one of the most influential and celebrated Cajun music acts in the United States. In 2019, the band was the subject of the Bruno Doria documentary On va continuer! A few months later, they returned with the live album Asteur.
