Jesus Piece

Philadelphia's Jesus Piece traffic in dynamic and explosive metallic hardcore that draws from industrial, death, and noise metal. Pushing at the boundaries of 21st century metalcore, the quintet's uncompromising sonic attack owes a tip of the hat to heavy music luminaries like Converge, Disembodied, and Deadguy. Jesus Piece issued their first full-length effort, Only Self, in 2018, followed by ...So Unknown in 2023. Established in 2015 and featuring the talents of Aaron Heard, David Updike, Luis Aponte, John DiStefano, and Anthony Marinaro, the band issued an eponymous EP shortly after forming, followed by a three-track promo in 2016 and a split with Florida-based hardcore outfit Malice at the Palace in 2017. After inking a deal with Southern Lord, the band headed to Chicago's Bricktop Recording Studio with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos, Like Rats, Lord Mantis) at the helm. The resulting Only Self, their debut full-length effort, arrived in October 2018. The band landed a supporting slot on Code Orange's 2020 tour, but the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic shut the operation down. Two years later, Jesus Piece joined Show Me the Body for their World War Tour's 36-date North America leg. Later that December, the band issued the pummeling single "An Offering to the Night," ahead of the arrival of their sophomore long-player, ...So Unknown, which was released on Century Media in April 2023.
