Felicia Weathers
American-born soprano Felicia Weathers is a native of St. Louis, MO. Weathers studied voice at the University of Indiana at Bloomington with Charles Kullman, but continued her course of study in Europe; she made her debut in Kiel in 1961. Weathers began in 1963 an association with the Hamburg State Opera that lasted until 1970, and the majority of her career was centered in Germany; Weathers recorded for the German branch of Decca. Weathers did sing for the Chicago Lyric Opera in the 1960s, appeared in roles at Covent Garden, and made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1965, but voluntarily ended her opera career in 1972, reputedly owing to strain on the voice. She has remained active in German-speaking lands ever since, as a teacher, recitalist, and as a popular celebrity.
