East Side Beat

Consisting of Italian-American singer Carl Fanini and Italian keyboardist Francesco Petrocchi, East Side Beat is first and foremost the "creature" imagined by two producers, Bruno Guerrini and Giovanni Cinaglia, who succeeded in signing the duo to Gianfranco Bortolotti's Media Records label. East Side Beat's first single was released in 1991. It was a dance version of Christopher Cross's hit "Ride Like The Wind", which rocketed up the UK charts to number three, making it their biggest hit despite many more singles to come. These were mostly dance versions of past hits, such as Simple Minds' "Alive And Kicking" in 1992, or Lee Garrett's "You're My Everything" in 1993. That same year, East Side Beat released their only untitled album, and broke up two years later, in 1995, without having managed to re-enter the best-seller charts.
