Diamond Plate
Practically born to thrash, Diamond Plate were formed in 2004 in the Chicago suburb of Worth, Illinois. Though just teenagers when the band came together, the trio's sound was rooted in the classic thrash metal sound of the '80s, borrowing from masters of the genre like Metallica and Anthrax to help revive the sound decades later. Consisting of guitarist Konrad Kupiec, singer and bassist Jon Macak, and drummer Jim Nicademus, Diamond Plate cut their teeth with a pair of self-released EPs, 2008’s Mountains of Madness and 2009’s Relativity, establishing themselves as an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with in the thrash revival. In 2010 they signed on with Earache Records and began work on their full-length debut. They also made an important decision to expand their lineup, and in 2011 Mario Cianci joined Diamond Plate, adding another guitar to their shred assault. The newly minted quartet’s debut album, Generation Why?, was released that same year.
