Abidoza

South African DJ and producer Abidoza has become one of the biggest names in amapiano with his uniquely smooth, soulful, and jazzy take on the genre. Born Amogelang Chabangu and raised in Marokolong, a northern suburb of Pretoria, he developed a passion for music at a young age. As a young man, he would commute the 70 miles to Johannesburg to work in a recording studio there; dropping out of school, he decided to devote himself to a career in music. He first made a stir in 2018 when he produced Tsitso's single "Baby Boy," but his career really took off after he was introduced to Major League DJz, one of the country's hottest acts. In 2020, the two released the hit albums Pianochella and What's the Levol. Abidoza released his debut solo album The Last Dance the same year. In 2021, he produced rapper Cassper Nyovest's massive hit single "Siyathandana." His own second solo album Black Child, followed in 2022, and his third, Phola, was released a year later. Abidoza's sound is characterized by its stylish take on amapiano, a uniquely South African subgenre of house music. Respected for his humble nature, solid work ethic, and lack of ego, he remains one of the foremost figures in the amapiano music scene.
