Derek

Derek Luccas da Silva, popularly known under the mononym DEREK, is a prominent Brazilian rapper and model born on March 13, 1998, in Vila Prudente, on the east side of São Paulo, Brazil. He grew up in Vila Industrial and currently resides in Santo André. Derek gained fame as a key figure in the Brazilian trap music scene and as one of the leading members of the collective Recayd Mob, alongside fellow rappers Dfideliz, Jé Santiago, and Mc Igu. In his teenage years, Derek began exploring trap music on the outskirts of São Paulo. His musical journey took a significant leap forward with the release of his debut album Paris (2016), which showcased a blend of trap, bossa nova, and jazz influences. This album marked Derek's impactful entrance into the local rap scene. In 2019, Derek released a three-track EP titled Clout. The tracks were initially released individually on his video-streaming channel and later compiled into the EP. Following this, in 2020, he released his second full-length studio album Ícone, featuring eleven tracks and collaborations with nine different artists. He continued his prolific output with the release of the SEXY & FASHION later, in 2020, and his first solo mixtape EL DEREK on January 29, 2021, consisting of 23 tracks. The album Trap the Fato was released in 2022. Owing to its success, a Deluxe edition was launched in 2023, adding three bonus tracks, including the popular "7 Novinha Pra 2 MLK." As a founder of the label TRAP THE FATO and a prominent leader of Recayd Mob, Derek has played a crucial role in shaping the Brazilian trap music scene. The collective, comprising musicians, photographers, and videomakers, has amassed over 140 million views on a single clip.
