Like many other prog bands, Triumvirat ended the 1970s in a downward spiral of crowd-pleasing pop gestures that, in the end, pleased nobody at all. If Triumvirat was a Germanic Emerson, Lake and Palmer, then this is surely their Love Beach; that is to say, it's an album surpassed in its awfulness only by Russian Roulette, which was released the following year. Soft pop and disco are well in evidence, and the Emerson-ian keyboard work of earlier albums has been replaced by sickly sweet electric piano; when the band takes on a cover of the Beach Boys song "Darlin'," they aim not to bury it in prog deconstruction, but to praise it with saccharin orchestration. Stay far away from this one.
