The Expanders
The Expanders, an American roots reggae band, was formed in Los Angeles, California, during the summer of 2003. Known for their vintage 1970s and early 1980s Jamaican reggae sound, the band comprises John Asher (drums, backing vocals), John Butcher (lead guitar, backing vocals), Roy Fishell (keyboard), Chiquis Lozoya (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, previously bass and backing vocals until 2018), and Evan Heins (bass). Their music is characterized by three-part vocal harmonies, conscious songwriting, and an indie-DIY spirit. They achieved significant recognition with their albums Hustling Culture (2015) and Old Time Something Come Back Again, Vol. 2 (2017), both of which debuted at Number One on Billboard's Top Reggae Albums chart.
