Robin
Robin Packalen (August 24, 1998), more commonly known by just Robin, is a teenage pop sensation from Finland. In 2008, when he was just ten years old, he won the Finnish children's music competition Staraskaba and represented Finland in the New Wave Junior song contest in 2009 in Moscow and 2010 in Ukraine. He released his debut single "Frontside Ollie" in 2012 when he was only 13. It quickly became an Internet sensation, entering the Finnish Singles Chart at Number 5 and then quickly going up to Number 1 due to the number of downloads.
Robin signed for Universal Music Finland in 2012. His debut album Koodi was released later that year, going four-times platinum. It was followed by a second album Chillaa in the same year with singles "Puuttuva Palanen" featuring Brädi reaching Number 4 on the Finnish Singles Chart.
Robin participated in many music festivals and concerts, including supporting Justin Bieber on tour in 2013. His third album Boom Kah was also released in 2013 and reached Number 1 on the Finnish Albums Chart. The title single "Boom Kah" reached Number 4 on the Singles Chart and a further single "Erilaiset" topped the Singles Chart in 2014. Robin released a remix album entitled Boombox in 2014 and later in the same year, his fourth studio album 16. From this album, "Kesärenkaat" reached Number 1 on the Finnish Singles Chart and there were Top 10 positions for singles "Parasta Just Nyt" and "Sua Varten." In 2015, Robin's album Yhdessä was released. This was much more of a collaborative album, featuring Nikke Ankara, Santa Cruz, Vilma Alina, and Sanni. Two of the singles from this album reached the Top 10, "Yö Kuuluu Meille" and "Milloin Nään Sut Uudestaan?" Robin participated in season six of the Finnish TV show Vain Elämää, which lead to six new single releases, two of which reached Number 3 on the Singles Chart. In 2017, Robin released a greatest hits album and following a concert in Helsinki, announced a break from music.
In 2019, Robin performed his single "I'll Be With You" at the Emma Awards. It was the first of his singles to be released in English, and the performance was under his full name Robin Packalen, suggesting a change in direction for the singer. In subsequent years, singles like "Benefits" (2020), "Hard to Love" (2021) with Alex Matsson, and "Ohikiitävää" (2022) all became hits in their own right, with the latter peaking at Number 14 on the Finnish Singles Chart.
