Millie Scott

Millie Scott sang in gospel groups throughout the South before she switched to jazz. Scott was born in Savannah, Georgia and was a member of the Pilgrim Gospel Singers and the Sermonettes. Scott sang with Bobby Dilworth And The Blazers, then moved to New York City. She did session work before forming the Glories and cutting the single "I Stand Accused" for Date. Scott eventually moved to Detroit after doing some sessions with the Temptations. She formed Quiet Elegance and toured with them while doing sessions with the Temptations and Spinners. Willie Mitchell signed Quiet Elegance to Hi in the '70s. But Scott moved on, doing sessions with Al Green. She formed Cut Glass with Ortheia Barnes in 1976, and stayed with them until 1979. She did more session work before signing with Island in 1986. Scott cut two Island LPs in the late '80s, and landed one Top 20 R&B hit, "Every Little Bit," in 1987.
