Micheline Presle
Micheline Presle, the doyenne of French cinema who died aged 101, had a rich career, though she never achieved the fame of Danielle Darrieux or Michèle Morgan. Revealed at the age of 18 in Abel Gance's"Paradis perdu", she went on to make a name for herself during the Occupation with such landmark works as"Falbalas" and"Le Diable au corps" with Gérard Philipe. From her precocious beginnings to her successful return to France after an American break, she demonstrated a very Parisian vivacity, notably with her role in"Les Saintes chéries" in the 60s.
