Lys Guillorn
Avant-folkie Lys Guillorn (Liss Guh-LORN) released a self-titled effort in Spring 2003 on the Connecticut indie Little Cowgirl. Before going solo, Guillorn played in the Danbury, CT-based Jargon Society, a "chamber punk" combo that included a cello. For her solo bow, the songwriter played most of the instruments, including guitars, organ, bells, and melodica. She also collaborated with producer Jeff Fuerzeig, who reached out to pals like Stanley Demeski and Brenda Sauter of the Feelies and Luna/Galaxie 500 kingpin Dean Wareham for contributions. The result was a gloomy, twangy effort that suggested artists like the Handsome Family and Cat Power.
