Lauma Skride
Lauma Skride is a Latvian pianist. Raised in a musical family with her sisters, violinist Baiba Skride and violist Linda Skride, she began taking piano lessons at age 5. Following studies at the Academy of Music in Riga, she entered the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, where she studied with Volker Banfield. Appearing frequently in a duo with Baiba, Lauma Skride recorded an album in 2007 of works by Beethoven, Schubert, and Ravel and contributed to her sister's album of works by Szymanowski. She is in demand as a soloist with orchestras and has performed with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Nuremberg Philharmonic.
