Kalon Mastermind

Listening to the likes of 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G, Nas and Busta Rhymes fueled Rodrigue Nombo's passion for hip-hop, which later led to a musical career under the pseudonym Kalon. After taking part in a number of freestyles in Libreville, Gabon, he launched his real career in 2004 with Engong Inc, with his single "Emplacement". Kalon gradually carved out a place for himself on the Gabonese rap scene, growing in stature in 2011 after signing to Bonne Fonne Family with Kinda mabé (2011), an EP that attracted a wider audience. The rapper's gangsta rap style is open to electronic sounds, and in 2013 he followed this up with a debut album: Ma light. The album features featurings with Jojo, Valking and John Luka, and puts Kalon at the center of Gabonese rap with a major project. After a new mixtape released in 2015, Ma raison et ma foi, and a slight hiatus from the music scene, Kalon Mastermind returned to the public via several singles scattered over the years, including "Matthieu 20:16" (2018), "Ghetto King" (2019) and "C pas la peine" (2023), fueling fans' expectations of a second album.
