Juan Jose
Cuban salsa singer and songwriter Juan José Hernández was born in Camagüey in 1974. A musical talent from an early age, Hernández attended the Instituto Superior de Arte. In 1996, he joined the famous Adalberto Álvarez y Su Son Orchestra as a vocalist, which allowed him to tour the world. In 1999, he moved to Puerto Rico and found work with the Humberto Ramírez and Willie Rosario Orchestras. In 2006, he founded San Juan-Habana, a project designed to celebrate the musical links between Cuba and Puerto Rico. The group released several albums, including San Juan-Habana (2008), La Hora del Té (2012), and Llegué para Quedarme (2015). Also a renowned composer, Hernández's songs have been recorded by artists such as El Gran Combo, Ismael Miranda, Elvis Crespo, Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Andy Montañez.
