Ann Dyer
An impressive chance-taking singer, Ann Dyer was one of the hits of the 1994 Monterey Jazz Festival, stretching out standards and really pouring a lot of emotion into Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman." She graduated from Mills College in 1979 with a modern dance degree and had plans to be a dancer, but her singing gained better reviews. Dyer recorded her debut for the Mr. Brown label in 1993.
