Villano Antillano
Puerto Rican MC Villano Antillano has been recognized as the first prominent trans artist in Latin rap. Known for her exuberant blend of EDM, trap, and hip-hop, she broke through in 2022 appearing on producer Bizarrap's Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 51, before releasing her debut, La Sustancia X.
Born in 1995, Villano Antillano grew up in Bayamón, a suburb of San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she developed a love of salsa, rock, and hip-hop. Her parents were conservative and strict and by the time she was 17 she had been kicked out of the house. A difficult period followed but she eventually established herself in the underground trap and hip-hop scene. full-length albums followed, including 2020s Ketoprincesa and 2022's Hembrismo, which found her further embracing her queer, trans identity. She also garnered buzz for defending the queer community in a viral "Tiraera," or diss track, and earned wider attention after being featured on Bizarrap's Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 51 in 2022. She released her debut full-length album, La Sustancia X, the same year.
