Toni Platao

Toni Platão appeared on the Brazilian rock scene with his band Hojerizah in the '80s. With the group's dissolution, he went on with his solo career, taking advantage of his unusual (among Brazilian rock bands) vocal timbre. With Picassos Falsos' (Hojerizah's alter ego) guitarist Gustavo Corsi, Platão followed a soul music course, releasing Tony Platão in 1994 with originals and songs by other Brazilian rock composers. His second solo one (Calígula Freejack, 2000) went better, mixing Baden Powell/Vinícius de Moraes' Afro-samba classic "Canto de Ossanha" with contemporary pop/rock creations.
