The Pets
Not to be confused with a '70s band of the same name, the Pets are an indie pop quartet from Steinbach, Manitoba, consisting of Chris, Myron, Matt, and Steve. Influenced by the Beach Boys and the Beatles, the band mixes traditional power pop with some of the sound-collage aspects of the Elephant 6 collective. A self-recorded CD found its way to a college radio station in Winnipeg, and the Pets became locally popular in spite of the fact that Chris had already moved to Japan to teach English. Endearing Records picked up the album and released it in late 2000 under the title Love and War.
