The Echocentrics
Austin-based psych outfit the Echocentrics is the project of Grammy-winning producer and musician Adrian Quesada, whose Latin-flavored rock and funk have also been heard in his other bands, Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, and Ocote Soul Sounds. Inspired by his love for '60s and '70s Latin funk and soul, Quesada began developing a set of psych-leaning tracks that were shared with Argentinian singer Natalia Clavier and Brazilian singer Tita Lima. This long distance multi-cultural collaboration resulted in 2011's Sunshadows album, which blended a distinctly Texan approach with cinematic Latin funk. Quesada's follow-up, Echo Hotel, arrived in 2016 and was again augmented vocal contributions from both Clavier and Liman as well as fellow Austinites James Petralli (White Denim, Bop English) and Alex Maas (the Black Angels).
