Solomon Grey
London-based musical duo Solomon Grey comprises musicians Tom Kingston and Joe Wilson, who initially met in Wilson's hometown of Oxford. Bonding over a shared love of music, the duo soon started writing and composing together, drawing influences from James Murphy and Little Dragon. It wasn't until they made a move to the West Coast of Ireland -- without the distractions of city life in London -- that they made music under the Solomon Grey moniker. Kingston decided to move to Australia and Wilson soon followed; they moved their studio equipment and spent two years there writing and producing music and honing their sound. Upon their return to the U.K. in early 2013, the duo teamed up with the Black Butter label to release their debut single "Gen V" to critical acclaim, especially on BBC Radio One. Follow-up "Firefly" followed in late 2013. The pair scored a soundtrack for an Irish tourism film, The Wild Atlantic Way, and the BFI feature films Gozo and The Casual Vacancy -- the latter being the 2015 BBC adaptation of J.K. Rowling's tragicomic novel. That same year also saw the release of Selected Works, a compilation of the duo's work. They went on to release their eponymous full-length via Decca in 2016 before composing the score for the BBC drama The Last Post in 2017. Solomon Grey released their sophomore effort, Human Music, in 2018.
