Schnappi
Schnappi das kleine Krokodil is a German cartoon character from the show Die Sendung mit der Maus. His signature song “Schnappi, das kleine Krokodil,” sung by Joy Gruttmann, went viral in 2004 and was later released as a single in early 2005, reaching the top of the charts in Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. It was later translated into French, Lithuanian, and Japanese. The unparalleled success of the song led to the release of a studio album titled Schnappi und Seine Freunde, which went to Number 1 in Austria, Number 2 in Germany, and Number 5 in Finland. “Ein Lama in Yokohama,” the album’s second single, reached the top 10 in Germany, Austria, and Norway. In November of that year, third single Jing! Jingeling! Der Weihnachtsschnappi! peaked at Number 3 in Norway. A second full-length titled Schnappi’s Winterfest appeared in December but only reached Number 43 in Austria and Number 25 in Germany.
