Rvshvd

On a 2023 single, RVSHVD claims he "Hit Different" by combining a little Lil Wayne and a little Travis Tritt -- a succinct summary of how the Georgian country singer separates himself from the pack. Raised on hip-hop but drawn to country, RVSHVD cultivated an online audience by performing country covers of hip-hop songs. After his rendition of Roddy Ricch's "Ballin'" earned online attention in 2020, the singer balanced his own singles with appearances on remixes by other artists, releasing a flurry of singles in the first years of the 2020s. RVSHVD finally released his debut EP, The Intro, early in 2024, supporting the mini-LP with "Hunnids in a Honky Tonk," a collaboration with Paul Wall. A native of the small Georgian town of Willacoochee, Clint Rashad Johnson grew up singing gospel in church while simultaneously developing a love for hip-hop. A listen to Keith Urban's "Sweet Thing" converted him to country music, sending him on a path that led him to Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, and Jason Aldean. Attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Johnson enrolled in its music program, eventually drifting toward music journalism. He made music in his spare time, concentrating on hip-hop but dabbling in country by 2018. Those early ventures into country were showcased on his 2019 debut EP, Memories, which he quickly followed with the single "Reminder" and Be Somebody EP. All the while, RVSHVD started gathering an audience by posting country versions of hip-hop songs online. One of these, a country rendition of Roddy Ricch's "Ballin'," went viral in 2020, helping to break RVSHVD to a larger audience in both country and hip-hop. Shortly after "Ballin'" gave him an audience, RVSHVD began releasing music at a furious pace. By the end of 2020, he had collaborated with Renee Blair on "Death Bed (coffee for your head)" while releasing the solo "Dirt Road" and "My Side of Town." Early in 2021, his "Raised Up" climbed to number four on Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart, then he turned his attention to a pair of remixes: he showed up on Trey Lewis's remix of "Dicked Down in Dallas," then appeared on "Colt 45 (Country Remix)" with Cooper Alan. RVSHVD closed out 2021 with the singles "Home to Me" and "Never Change." He rang in 2022 by appearing on "You're a Fucking Bitch Hope You Know That Shit (TikTok Remix)" with Atlus and Phix. The solo "Cottonmouth" was the only other song he released that year, but he made up for it with an active 2023. That year, he released the singles "Hit Different" and "Reverse," featured on "For My Dawgs" with Willie Jones and Blanco Brown, and did three additional songs -- "For the Streets," "Shoebox Money," and "Small Town Talk" -- before issuing the seasonal tunes "Run Rudolph Run" and "My Tree." After collaborating with Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria on the "Deal with the Devil" single, RVSHVD launched the cycle for his debut EP, The Intro, with the release of "Hunnids in a Honky Tonk," a single with Paul Wall.
