Mexicano

Hailing from Mazatlán, a town in northwestern Mexico, Mi Banda El Mexicano was originally formed in the mid-1970s as a rock band, but gradually developed into a technobanda group during the 1980s, officially changing its original name, Grupo El Mexicano, to Mi Banda El Mexicano in 1992. Although the group had already released five albums since 1988, that year they released one of their future classics, A bailar...de caballito!!! . Until their break-up in 2001, the group went on to release numerous other albums, including studio albums such as Fuera de serie in 1995, Otra avez in 1998 and Cómprate un perro in 2000, live albums such as En Vivo en El Río Nilo in 1997, and even compilations such as 15 Éxitos - Mi Banda el Mexicano in 2001. From 2001 onwards, each member of the quartet (Casimiro Zamudio, Jorge Hopkins, Francisco Vidriales and, since the 1980s, Germán Román) was involved in various formations attempting to capitalize on the success of Mi Banda El Mexicano, including Germán Román with Germán Román y su Banda República and Germán Román's Mi Banda El Mexicano. In 2009, Jorge, Pancho and Casimiro got together to form what was then Mi Banda El Mexicano, but Germán Román was the only one not to take part due to differences with Casimir Zamudio. Two groups then coexisted: Casimiro Zamudio's Su Majestad, Mi Banda El Mexicano, which released a self-titled album in 2017, and Germán Román's Mi Banda El Mexicano.
