John Garcia
Born September 4, 1970 in the tiny town of San Manuel, Arizona, John Garcia is best known as the singer for the legendary desert rock group Kyuss, a band whose druggy grooves would shape the face of stoner rock for years to come. After Kyuss disbanded in 1995, Garcia continued to be active in the stoner rock world, playing with bands like Slo Burn, Unida, and Hermano through most of the late '90s and 2000s. In 2010, Garcia reunited with fellow Kyuss founders Nick Oliveri and Brant Bjork to play as Kyuss Lives!, though legal pressure from Josh Homme and Scott Reeder would see the band change their name to Vista Chino in 2012. While keeping up with all of these projects, Garcia managed to find the time to record a solo album, releasing an eponymous effort through Napalm Records in 2014. His sophomore solo long-player, The Coyote Who Spoke in Tongues, arrived in 2017, followed by John Garcia and the Band of Gold in early 2019.
