Jean-Pierre Mader

Associated with the Top 50 of the 1980s, Jean-Pierre Mader is the author of several new wave-influenced pop hits. Born in Toulouse on June 21, 1955, he played bass in the rock band Tangara and the ballroom orchestra Les Gaulois, which also featured Francis Cabrel. After a first track produced by Jean-Pierre Groscolas, "Les Bandes dessinées " (1978), he met Richard Seff, who took him to Philips, where he recorded the album Faux Coupable (1982), in a synthetic pop style. In 1984, Jean-Pierre Mader inaugurated a flourishing contract with Flarenasch with the song "Disparue", which reached No. 18 in the Top 50, and the album Microclimats (1985), featuring the hit "Macumba", which reached No. 3 in the charts, where it remained for 23 weeks. This was followed by "Un pied devant l'autre" at No. 8, and the 3rd single "Jalousie" at No. 42. Building on this success, the singer produced the album Outsider (1986) with a brass section and a host of electronic instruments, including the hit "Outsider dans son cœur " (no. 44), followed by a concert recorded at the Paris Olympia, Mader en Concert (Sous Influences), released in 1987 as the single "Obsession" and the maxi 45-turn album Spécial Medley Olympia 1987. In 1989, Françoise Hardy wrote him "En résumé... en conclusion" (no. 37), included on the album Midi à Minuit, produced by British producer Tony Mansfield, a former member of the group New Musik. His career continued more discreetly with the album J'Aère (1993) and a duet with Véronique Rivière on "India Song". Moving to the other side of the console, Mader works as a composer and producer for Peio Serbielle, Ute Lemper, Michel Fugain, Les Fabulous Trobadors, Philippe Léotard, Art Mengo, Bernard Lavilliers, Valérie Lagrange, Les Yeux Noirs, Christophe, Dick Annegarn and Desireless. In 2007, he joined the RFM Party 80 tour, and two years later teamed up with Léopold Nord et Vous for the track "Bruxelles-Toulouse " (No. 14 in Belgium). Featured in the film Stars 80 (2012), the singer recorded a new version of his hit "Macumba " in 2022, in aid of the Sidaction association, with Lio and Émile et Images.
