I-Wayne
Contemporary roots reggae singer I Wayne (born Cliffroy Taylor) hails from Portmore, Jamaica looks back to the classic era of 1960s and ‘70s Jamaican reggae for inspiration. Smooth, sprightly, and couched deeply in the conscious Rasta ethos, I Wayne’s music conjures the glories of reggae past, but with a fresh twist. The single “Can’t Satisfy Her” made waves, and was only one of the highlights (along with follow-up single “Living in Love”) of his well-received 2005 debut Lava Ground. 2007 saw the release of I Wayne’s sophomore album Book of Life, which shows more of a dancehall influence, and a deepening of the artist’s Rastafarian philosophies.
