Gowry Lekshmi

Playback singer, songwriter, and producer Gowry Lekshmi was born in Cherthala, Kerala, India on August 2, 1993. She is best known for writing and performing in the Malayalam language although she has also sung in the Tamil language as well. She began her composing career at the age of 13 when she wrote and sang the song “Sakhiye” for the Mollywood (Malayalam-language cinema) film Casanovva (2012). Because of her age, she gained a lot of attention since she was the youngest composer in India. In 2013, Gowry Lekshmi wrote “Vande Madaram” for the film Kunthapura. In 2014, she made her playback singer debut with “Ithu Jeevitham” (from the 2014 film Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal), which was a track she did not compose. Her Kollywood (Tamil cinema) debut came in 2016 when she song “Sollava” for the motion picture Bongu as well as “Kaalai Theneer,” featured in the movie Ennodu Vilayadu. Gowry Lekshmi came to prominence with her performance of “Aaro Nenjil,” taken from the 2017 film Godha. Other notable playback performances include “Athmavin Akashathil” (from 2018’s Njan Prakashan), “Ini Vida Parayaam” (from 2019’s Zam Zam), and “Kando Kando” (from 2020’s Big Brother). Apart from her playback recordings, she has also released several independent tracks outside of the film industry including “Thoni” (2015), “Aaraaro” (2019), “Kandittum Kanathe” featuring Crishna (2020), and “Ajitha Hare” (2021), which was taken from her Rathnamala EP.
