Emel

Emel Mathlouthi was one of the driving forces behind the Tunisian revolution of 2010/2011, when she gave several concerts in support of the demonstrators. Influenced by Joan Baez and Portishead, Emel Mathlouthi doesn't turn her back on traditional Arab music, whose strings and percussion she readily uses. A finalist for the 2006 RMC Middle East prize, she met artists such as Charlélie Couture, Tricky and Meï Teï Shô. In early 2012, Emel Mathlouthi released her album Kelmti Horra, which was immediately acclaimed on the world music circuit.
