Ulrik Neumann
Danish guitarist Ulrik Neumann was already an established star in the 1930s when he and his sister Gerda became a popular guitar and vocal duo. They made their career principally in Norway and Denmark and kept working even during the German occupation, when they skirted laws restricting the hours of any clubs by performing in the mornings or any other hours not prohibited, still managing to draw crowds. Neumann was later part of the postwar Scandanavian jazz trio the Swe-Danes, which included violinist Svend Asmussen. Neumann and Asmussen later teamed together as a duo and toured and recorded together.
