The One Hundred

English rap-metal quartet the One Hundred meld nu-metal and trancecore elements with grime-style raps, delivered in a thick London accent for a unique take on the genre. Formed in Guildford, Surrey in 2013 by vocalist Jacob Field and guitarist Tim Hider, they were originally only a writing-and-production project, but once they realized there was no one performing the sort of music they were making, they decided to form a band and perform it themselves. Recruiting bassist Phil Kneller and drummer Joe Balchin, they quickly solidified an aggressive, intense style bearing the heavy influence of Senser, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Enter Shikari, and the Prodigy, with Field effortlessly switching from belligerent rudeboy raps to intense metal shrieks and roars. Their debut track, "Breed," picked up support at BBC Radio 1, leading to the band recording a session for The Rock Show. Their debut EP, Subculture, was released in 2014 through respected metal indie label UNFD, receiving rave reviews and drawing comparisons to fellow Brits Hacktivist. They landed a slot at Download and high-profile support gigs with Papa Roach, Mötley Crüe, and Crossfaith, which further boosted their visibility. Signing a deal with Euro-metal giant Spinefarm, they released their debut full-length album, Chaos + Bliss, in June 2017; featuring the thrilling single "Monster," it took their futuristic sound even further, incorporating R&B and pop elements.
