Ryan Pollie
Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Ryan Pollie first came to the public's attention in 2014 with his lo-fi bedroom indie pop project Los Angeles Police Department. Following a battle with cancer, Pollie issued his third album and the first under his own name with the eponymously titled Ryan Pollie in 2019.
A native of Philadelphia, Pollie studied music at Bates College in Maine before moving to Los Angeles. In 2014, he issued his debut under the Los Angeles Police Department moniker. A collection of gently ornate pop that belied his love of '60s folk and psychedelia, the self-released album helped Pollie land a deal with the Anti- label. Two years later, he issued a second full-length, the similarly self-titled Los Angeles Police Department, which found him embracing a slightly more polished sound. It was while recording his third album that Pollie was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He subsequently underwent chemotherapy in summer 2018 and managed to finish the album. Following his recovery, he issued the eponymously title Ryan Pollie in May 2019.
