Peter McPoland

Peter McPoland is an American singer, songwriter, and musician with a knack for pairing honest and affecting lyrics with icy, earworm melodies rooted in classic and contemporary indie pop with electronic production flourishes. After inking a deal with Columbia Records, he released his debut EP, Slow Down, in 2022, with his first long-player, Piggy, scheduled to arrive in 2023. Born in Burlington, Vermont, McPoland moved to Texas at age seven and picked up the guitar seven years later. Growing up in a musical household, he was drawn to singular artists like John Prine, Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen, and later on, Gregory Alan Isakov and Twenty-One Pilots. After graduating from high school, he relocated to New York City, where he began focusing on music in earnest. Early singles like 2018's "Lady Bird" and 2020's "I Love You Too" garnered plenty of attention, but it was 2021's heartfelt "Romeo & Juliet" that pushed him into the mainstream, accumulating millions of streams and earning the young artist a deal with Columbia. A series of stand-alone singles, including the fist-pumping singalong "Shit Show," preceded the arrival of McPoland's major-label debut. Released in 2022, the seven-track Slow Down EP featured the hits "String Lights" and "News at 9," and he promoted the effort with a series of sold-out headline shows and a high-profile slot supporting Twenty-One Pilots on their arena tour. A short period of writer's block was resolved after a cross-country road trip, resulting in the release of the 2023 singles "Digital Noise" and "Turn Off the Noise," both of which will appear on the upcoming full-length outing Piggy.
