Michael Kelly

American baritone Michael Kelly graduated from the Eastman School of Music, and he earned his master's degree at the Juilliard School. He was a member of the Opernstudio at Opernhaus Zürich, and he co-founded SongFusion, a collaborative group of singers, instrumentalists, dancers, actors, and visual artists, based in New York. Kelly won prizes in several competitions, including the Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition in 2004, the Lydon Woodside Solo Competition in 2009, and the Poulenc Competition in 2013. Kelly appeared as Idamante in Mozart's Idomeneo, Sattirino in Cavalli's La Calisto, Aeneas in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Count Almaviva in Corigliano's The Ghosts of Versailles, Heraldo in Handel's Rinaldo, and Figaro in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia. With Opernhaus Zürich, he performed in Lully's Armide and Cavalli's La Didone. He also created roles in the premieres of Lowell Lieberman's Miss Lonelyhearts and Michael Dellaira's The Secret Agent. In concert, Kelly has sung in works by Monteverdi, Purcell, Bach, Handel, Brahms, Orff, Britten, Duruflé, Del Tredici, and Fairuz, and he has a broad recital repertoire that includes songs by Schubert and Tchaikovsky.
