Making Movies

Flor de Toloache is an all-female mariachi band formed in New York City in 2008. Led by Mireya I. Ramos and Shae Fiol, the group consists of nine members from Puerto Rico, Mexico, Germany, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Argentina, and Cuba. They began their career as busking musicians performing in the New York subway, where their performances caught the attention of numerous media outlets, including the New York Times. In 2014, they made their official recording debut with the album Mariachi Flor de Toloache. After touring with garage rock band The Arcs and contributing to their 2016 studio effort Yours, Dreamily, Flor de Toloache returned with their sophomore album Las Caras Lindas in 2017, which won a Latin Grammy for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album later that year. A third long-player titled Indestructible saw the light in 2019 and featured guest spots by John Legend, Miguel, Camilo Lara, and Alex Cuba. In 2021, Flor de Toloache made an appearance on the Ximena Sariñana track “El Amor Más Grande,” included in the Mexican singer’s fifth studio album Amor Adolescente.
