Jose Maria
Mexican singer, ballerina, Flamenco dancer and actress Maria José started her music career as a member of the group Kabah which formed in 1992. When the group disbanded in 2005, José embarked on a solo career, releasing her first album 'Maria José' in 2007 on the Warner Music label. The album, which included the singles 'Quien Eres Tú?', 'Me Equivoque,' and 'Donde Está?' reached number 84 in the Mexican Albums Chart. She was also the support act for Gwen Stefani's tour of Mexico in 2007. In 2009, José promoted the release of her second album with a performance on stage of the single 'No Soy una Señora' as support act for Rihanna's tour of Mexico. The album, 'Amante de Lo Ajeno', consisting of cover versions of popular 1980s songs by artists such as Daniela Roma and Lucia Méndez, reached number two in the Mexican Album Charts. The singles 'Mi Amor, Amor' and 'Adelante Corazón' were also released in 2009, but it was the single 'No Soy una Señora', originally recorded by Melissa, that proved most popular, reaching number one in the Mexican Singles Chart. Also released from the album was the duet 'Cosas Del Amor' with Edith Marquéz, which also featured on Marquéz's album 'Frente a Frente' which reached number nine in the Mexican Albums Chart in 2010.
José's third album 'Amante de lo Bueno' (2010), which was also a selection of cover versions from the 1980s, reached number one in the Mexican Albums Chart. In 2011 and 2012, she was a judge on the Mexican TV show 'Pequeños Gigantes'. Her second album of original songs, 'De Noche' was released in 2012 and reached number three in the Mexican Albums Chart. The singles 'Tú Ya Sabes a Mi' and 'Extraña' were also released in this year, and 'Extraña' was also released in Spain. In 2016, José's fifth album, 'Habla Ahora' was her third containing original songs. It reached number three in the Mexican Albums Chart. Singles 'Las Que Se Ponen Bien La Falda' and 'Hable Ahora' were both released in 2016. In 2019, José's album 'Conexion' was released. This was her first live solo album and contained the singles 'Tengo Hábito De Ti', a duet with Vanesa Martin, and 'Lo Que Tenías Conmigo'.
