Jeanette Biedermann
German actress and musician Jeanette Biedermann (aka Jeanette) might have become a hairdresser if she hadn't had her big break in an Idol-style talent search competition run by the German tabloid Bild. Born in Berlin in 1981, Biedermann began performing as an acrobat in the Lilliput Circus when she was only six, and she went on to attend beauty school once she graduated from high school. Her studies were interrupted when she competed against thousands of contestants in 1999's Bild-Schlagerwettbewerb talent contest. Biedermann won, and she released her debut single, "Das Tut Unheimlich Weh," later that year. She managed to obtain a role on the German soap opera Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten soon after that, and remained on the show until 2004. Biedermann released her second single, "Go Back," that year. It shot to number nine on the German charts, and paved the way for the release of her debut album, Enjoy!, which came out later that year. Biedermann enjoyed another Top 20 album with her sophomore effort, 2001's Delicious, and she went on to win an ECHO that same year. Her third album, 2002's Rock My Life, peaked at number seven on the charts and yielded three Top Ten singles. Biedermann's career reached an all-time high the following year when her fourth album, Break on Through, shot to number six on the German charts and went platinum. Her fifth release, 2006's Naked Truth, had a considerably cooler reception; it peaked at number 14 on the German charts, and made a quiet exit from the Top 50 soon thereafter.
