ill peach

A project formed by working songwriters, ill peach merge anthemic alt-pop and dance-rock into songs that are bright and proudly left of center. Their offbeat tendencies were on full display on the angsty songs that made up their eclectic debut album, 2023's THIS IS NOT AN EXIT. Residents of Los Angeles by way New York and, before that, Wyoming and Minnesota, respectively, Jess Corazza and Pat Morrissey got their professional start as songwriters. They had worked together with artists spanning SZA, Weezer, SAINT JHN, and Icona Pop when they finally heeded oft-suggested advice to launch their own project, given that their style was a bit too odd for most. Taking a somewhat haphazard approach to instrumentation, and with Corazza singing lead, they released their debut single as ill peach, the sultry "GOOD MORNING BLUES," in mid-2019. With its heavily edited vocals, household objects as percussion, and lengthy saxophone solo, it was indeed quirky. The more fully produced EP EXCUSE US WHILE WE FIND OUR MINDS followed on their own Pop Can Records label in August 2021 and did decent streaming numbers, with the single "GUM" racking up seven-digit figures. Hardly Art signed the duo in time for the November 2023 release of their collaborative full-length debut, THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.
