Bobby Fishscale

Florida rapper Bobby Fishscale delivers his almost hypnotizingly focused bars over trap instrumentals with pop-leaning production. He built a budding career in his hometown before signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation in 2019, and went on to work with big names like Quavo, Juicy J, and Mozzy on his 2021 project The Evolution. Born Darryl Thomas in Quincy, Florida, Bobby Fishscale was raised on the sounds of James Brown and Michael Jackson, developing a love for music through his father's record collection. Having written bars throughout his high school years, the rapper first gained some attention with 2019's "Hov Flow." The song found Fishscale rapping over Jay-Z and Eminem's "Renegade," and combined with the buzz surrounding his debut mixtape, Big Fish, he was soon being approached by various labels. He ultimately inked a deal with Roc Nation and began to build a substantial catalog. In late 2020, Fishscale issued the mixtapes The Last Re-Up, Super Fishy, and Da Relapse, all characterized by hustle-heavy stories, breezy brag-raps, and hard-hitting trap beats. That year, he was also awarded the BMI R&B and Hip Hop Social Star Award. In 2021, Fishscale scored a major placement at that year's Rolling Loud Festival, and he released new music in the form of mixtapes Tilapia and The Evolution. The latter set leaned more into pop-friendly production and featured guest appearances from Mozzy, Zaytoven, Quavo, and several others.
