Blaq Jerzee & Jux

Nigerian producer, singer, and songwriter Blaq Jerzee became one of the country's premier hitmakers, undertaking production work for a huge portfolio of popular artists while enjoying a career as a recording artist in his own right. Born Okhuofo Isaiah Oshrioameh on November 15, 1986 in Lagos State, Blaq Jerzee started his career in music by joining his church choir when he was 13 years old. He learned to play keyboard, drums, and saxophone and began creating beats for developing Nigerian bands. He went on to develop into a versatile producer with an enviable list of credits to his name, working with many of Nigeria's A-list performers, including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Sarkodie, and Mr. Eazi. His nom de plume comes from his childhood nickname, which he acquired after continually turning up to choir practice in a sweater (a "jersey") rather than a school uniform, owing to his impoverished family's inability to afford enough sets. After he produced the smash hit "Fever" for Wizkid, the singer encouraged Blaq to start releasing his own music. Hit singles such as "Arizona," "Olò," "One Leg Up," "Bags," and "Chele" followed, many of them featuring artists for whom he had undertaken production work. Blaq Jerzee's music is a fusion of Afro-beat, Afro-Pop, and R&B that sounds both fresh and familiar, with smooth flow, clever wordplay, and catchy hooks. His debut album, Lost Files, appeared in 2023.
