Ben Burgess

A contemporary country singer with a commanding voice and world-weary delivery, Ben Burgess started his career in music as a songwriter, earning credit on Jonas Brothers' "Chillin' in the Summertime" in 2010 before contributing to hits ranging from Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan's "There for You" to Morgan Wallen's "Whiskey Glasses" and Tyler Rich's "The Difference" by the late 2010s. Although he had previously self-released his own material, he made his official full-length label debut as a solo artist with Tears the Size of Texas in 2022. Released when he was 37, it was partly inspired by classic cowboy records and Western films. Hailing from East Dallas, Texas, Benjamin Beauregard Burgess spent a challenging several years in Dallas, Austin, and then Los Angeles, where he tried to make it as a pop songwriter. His time in L.A. included a writing credit on Jonas Brothers' "Chillin' in the Summertime," which earned a place on the 2010 soundtrack album JONAS L.A. Burgess relocated to Nashville a few years later and immediately felt more at home while making his way into writing rooms with such acclaimed songwriters as Ashley Gorley, Jesse Frasure, and Randy Montana. In the meantime, he put together solo material that appeared in the form of the self-released Down in Georgia in 2014. His biggest successes were yet to come, as he signed on with Warner Chappell Music Publishing in 2015. Burgess went on to pen hits for Pat Green ("Drinkin' Days"), Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan (the platinum-selling "There for You"), Tyler Rich ("The Difference"), and Morgan Wallen's multi-platinum hit "Whiskey Glasses," among others, before the end of the decade. He signed with Big Loud Records as a solo artist in 2020, and in 2021, he was featured alongside David Lee Murphy and Big Loud labelmate ERNEST on the track "Red Dirt Clouds" from the country mixtape Hixtape, Vol. 2. Inspired by movie Westerns and records like Marty Robbins' Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs, his official debut album, Tears the Size of Texas, arrived on Big Loud in September 2022. It was produced by label co-founder Joey Moi.
